Short Trip to Melbourne
The journey began from KKIA to KLIA for 2 hours and continue to Melbourne Airport for 8 hours. We arrived in Melbourne Airport at 6:00pm, and take a taxi to the City.
(Umm I’m confused whether we’re going to the city directly by the bus or we go to Sky Bus station to go to the city) whatever, at last, we arrived in the city at night, and go to BoZo Backpacker Hostel. The hostel was cheap but a bit horrid and bittle. We’re not comfortable to stay in such a place, so we decided to find another hostel by asking Uncle Google 😆. Then, we choose to stay at Discovery Melbourne Hostel.

While heading to the hostel, we’re misguided. Hahah. Well it was night and our first time in Melbourne with only google map as the tour guide 😅 .. After few hours walk around with our backpacks, we finally found the hostel. It looks nice from the outside. Then, we check-in and rest in the room. Luckily, we got an empty room. I mean, we’re lucky to get a room with no roommates. Because it is a hostel and usually we’ll have to share the room with others. The room has 12 beds and we’re just three peoples. It was a comfortable room with air conditioner and we conquer it for 2 days😄 ...
The hostel was very nice because they have a big kitchen with complete tools for cooking. Anyway, as a muslim, you better use your own tools. Additionally, they also prepared a breakfast for us. Such a good service from them.
After get enough rest, we going out that night. We take a walk around the area and been misguided again and again. Haha. By the way, it was funny and a great experience. We like to be lost and we gained more memories and pengajaran. Plus, that is what we call adventure right. Then, we enter the supermarket and bought some foods and stuff to cook at the hostels. After sight-seeing, we back to the dorm and sleep.

On the next day, we wake up early and cook for our breakfast. Actually, it is for our lunch box. Because we’re given a set of breakfast and plan to going out for the whole day. So, we prepared our foods for our adventure in Melbourne at the day. I tell ya, the hostel was very nice. ❤️ . We going out from the hostel at 10:00am and walk away with google map. Initially, we have planned to go to Victoria Zoo early in the morning so we can feed the animals. But, we’ve been misguided and lost many times. Then, we decided to take a bus. By the way, it’s not easy to reach there. We just stop station by station to see the map at the bustop. We stopped at many bustops and take different buses to get into Victoria Zoo. Finally, we arrived at the zoo and spend our time to walk around the biiiiig zoooo, from 12pm until 5pm. Wooah, I don’t remember that we spend a lot of time in there hahaha. It was 5 hours 😂

However, it's very fun because we found so many animals that we can't see in Malaysia. Plus, the zoo was quite beautiful and exciting. There are Red Panda, it was cute like a cat. emm more cute than the cat actually. and... the sleepy Koalas, the aggressive Platypus, Kanagroos, and many more. After 5 hours in the zoo, we're exhausted and get out from the zoo. We wanted to go to other places in Melbourne, but, we're running out of time because lost many times at the morning. So, we just go to the Melbourne Central to buy a SimCard, because we need internet for our adventure. We stop at a shop and bought Vodafone (the simcard used in Australia), and we also bought MyKi, a card used by foreigners to use the City Bus and Tram.
One thing I like in Melbourne, they have a very efficient and systematic public transport. Af first, we just get into the bus and pay with cash. We saw the folks were using a card and scan it when they enter or out from the bus. So, it is important for us as foreigners to have this card, because once you have your MyKi, you just have to scan it one time at any bus then you can use the city trams for the whole day, as long as it is in the same route. Fyi, there are three route for the buses in Melbourne, which are around the city, interesting places in Melbourne, and to outside of the county. I’m not gonna fill my entry with this public transport topic anyway😅 you’ll used to it when you going there soon. And yeah, for adventurer, you must use this facility. It was fun to have a bus rather than a taxi or rent a car. And Walk is the best way to travel around.
Time goes by very fast. It already night and we have no time to go to other places except the zoo. So, we just go to the Coles Supermarket to buy kitchenware and foods. Then, we go back to the dorm and rest. More info about Discovery Melbourne Hostel, their lobby were very nice and classic, where you can sit and have a chit chat with the other customers, you can also play some games in the lobby. One of them if Pool or Snooker.
